Do you have a mobile-friendly website?
On April 21st Google is slated to release a new algorithm that will include their new mobile-friendly website search ranking system. This upcoming change is going to be even bigger than previous updates. It will impact how people can find you and your business on their mobile devices.
Why is this so important?
According to the folks at Smart Insights, 80% of people have access to the internet. Of that number, roughly half use their smartphones and tablets to research products and services. Think about it, when was the last time you were in a store and needed to comparison shop? I’ve done it particularly over the holidays when trying to find the best price for an item.
If your website isn’t mobile-friendly, how are people going to find you and your services?
Not sure about your website?
Goggle has a free tool to test if your website is mobile-friendly. Simply type in your web address in the box and click “Analyze”. If you get a green “Awesome!”, you’re set and ready for the upcoming change. However, if the green bar from Google doesn’t pop up, your website will need to be updated to be more mobile responsive. Also, check that your site is available on all devices from different browsers.
There’s still time to change your website and test it for mobile-friendliness, but hurry. Remember, Google will begin implementing the update on April 21st.
